We had committed physical assault

Sergey Gavrilov, after a visit which Georgia started the riots, told of the incident

The Deputy of the state Duma Sergey Gavrilov, who during the meeting of the Interparliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy sat in the seat of the speaker of the Parliament of Georgia that the media called the cause of mass protests in Tbilisi, told the newspaper “Commersant” the details of his visit to the Republic.

“Where I was invited to sit on the receiving side — that’s where I reside. Protocol this pride of place is given to the chair of the General Assembly, not the secretaries. While the General Assembly is only the President of the Interparliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy — in this case me. <…> In this case, put here. And we with the Secretary General of the Interparliamentary Assembly — Deputy of the Greek Parliament — half took place in the Presidium”, — said the Deputy.

According to him, the meeting was in normal mode before the first break.

“But during the break, burst into the room, the extremists took the presidency, destroyed documents,” — said Gavrilov. After the incident, according to him, the meeting participants moved to the hotel, where he completed the meeting. The MP also noted that a number of parliamentarians of the Georgian Parliament has apologized to foreign visitors for the incident.

“When we are already at the hotel went to press, we had committed physical assault. The security service, unfortunately, was unable to prevent it,” — said Gavrilov.

On specifying question of the journalist whether the hit it, the Deputy responded affirmatively.

“Yes, and I think that Georgian law-enforcement bodies and Prosecutor General’s office of Georgia has determined the responsibility of these extremists. Including, perhaps, the deputies of the Georgian Parliament, who threatened physical violence. Threatened to kill the members of the delegations of the Interparliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy. Declared from the tribune of the Parliament that we killed and will kill”, — said Russian Deputy. Names of the Georgian colleagues, who threatened him, he never called.

Gavrilov also has denied the information spread by some Georgian media on how he allegedly participated in the hostilities in Abkhazia.

“This fake news spread by extremists from among the Georgian opposition in order to undertake provocation and to seize the Parliament. I declare that I have never participated in the fighting in Abkhazia and in any other country. Never and anywhere I did not participate in the fighting, did not carry weapons. I was in the hot spots in Syria, in Kosovo, in other places. But for the sole purpose of assisting victims of local conflicts, primarily Christians,” said Gavrilov, expressing disappointment with the lack of in Georgia, “independent media.” Information about whether he is a supporter of the independence of Abkhazia, the Deputy has not commented on.

The MP expressed gratitude for the support of the leadership of the state Duma, the Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin and employees of the Ministry of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation: “I think their support helped us to hold the meeting and to ensure the safety of participants from different countries.”

We will remind, according to recent reports, the clashes of protesters with police at the Parliament building of Georgia suffered 30 participants and 39 police officers, reports Sputnik — Georgia with reference to the Advisor to Prime Minister David Sergeenko.
