Bridge of concrete and steel that rests on the water surface, may seem highly unusual, if not impossible, but around the world built 20 of these bridges, and 5 of them only one in Washington state (USA), 4 of which are the longest floating bridges in the world.
Floating bridges, also known as pontoon, usually are temporary structures built of wood during emergency circumstances such as war. Wooden ferry boats and sometimes the boats were tied together tightly, and a flat Board laid on top, creating a roadbed on which people and vehicles could cross the river or pond. Throughout history, the pontoon bridges were used with great success during many battles, including the Second world war and the Iran-Iraq war.
