Anti-Semitic leaflets that Jews and Israel were behind the September 11 attacks, appeared in Northern California, about 30 miles from San Francisco.
Leaflets, discovered last weekend in Novato, a city with a population of about 52,000 people in the North Bay, were pasted on telephone poles, storefronts and campus middle school. They claimed that the Israelis were dancing on the ruins of the twin towers that Jewish Israelis made billions on the insurance and that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised the most massive attack in U.S. history.
At the bottom of the page is written: “Wake up USA !”
Chief of police Adam McGill urged citizens to “stand up to hatred”, but told the Marin Independent Journal that the leaflets protected by the First amendment, and no investigation would be. No group took responsibility for their distribution.
Nancy Appel, senior assistant to the regional Director, Central Pacific region, anti-defamation League, said her office has received numerous calls about the incident. “It’s an old hoary stereotypes about September 11. Part of the growth of anti-Semitism, which we see as a whole,” she said.
