Green hatchback will be the first production representative of a whole family of vehicles with fully electric propulsion systems.
Volkswagen will launch a serial production of the new hatchback with all-electric power plant in November 2019. This was announced during the summit, suppliers of German concern in Wolfsburg.
Thus, the production of electric cars starts five months after the start of production of a family of eighth-generation Golf. The hatchback will be the first representative of a whole family of “green” car group called I. D., where in the initial phase will also include a minivan, a crossover and a sports coupe.
The prototype of the hatchback was shown at the 2016 Paris motor show. The concept car is equipped with a 170-horsepower electric motor and a set of batteries for the power reserve without charging 500 kilometers. What units will be used on a freight car is not yet known.
By 2030, the Volkswagen group is investing 20 billion Euro into the development of vehicles with electric and hybrid propulsion systems. About it reports a press-service of the German automaker.
By 2025 among all controlled by Volkswagen brands will be up to 80 new electrified models, 50 more than previously thought. In 2030 the number of electric cars developed in the framework of the company, will reach 300 titles.
