Volker has called the conditions for holding elections in the occupied Donbas

The deployment of peacekeepers contribute to the holding of local elections in ORDA, said the special representative of the United States.

The deployment of UN peacekeepers in the occupied Donbass will contribute to the holding of local elections in certain districts of Donetsk and Lugansk regions.

This was stated by the special representative of the US State Department on Ukraine Kurt Volker.

In particular, Walker noted that the holding of elections in occupied Donbas is impossible without full access of Ukraine to the territories.

“If we find a reasonable way to attract an international peacekeeping force, then there will be a security tool, a means of physical control of territory. Under these conditions, when the conditions for effective international monitoring, the organization of local elections possible,” said Walker.

In addition, he suggested that elections in ORDA will have to pass a series of votes. In his opinion, the deployment of peacekeepers will allow to count on the withdrawal of Russian troops from the Donbass.
