Volcano eruption in Indonesia: thousands of tourists are stuck in Bali. Video

Thousands of tourists were stuck on the Indonesian island.

Bali opened its international airport on Friday after all flights were cancelled due to the eruption of the volcano Agung.

As a result, thousands of tourists got stuck on the Indonesian island.

Airport Ngurah Rai started about 2:30 p.m. local time (09:30 on Kiev), approximately 12:00 after it closed.

The ashes, which were thrown out of the volcano is dangerous to aircraft because it can damage the engine.

The change in wind direction pushed the fire from the international gateways of Bali, making it possible to resume the flights, said the representative of the airport.

“The airport will be working within 24 hours to get flights back on schedule,” he added.

Closing early in the morning led to the cancellation of over 300 flights in and out of a tropical Paradise with approximately 27 000 passengers.

Two other airports in East Java were also closed on Friday. The volcano Aang throws plumes of ash up to 2,500 metres into the air Wednesday.

In the zone of 4 km around the crater of the volcano, set the danger zone, and about 300 locals from across the mountains were voluntarily evacuated.

As reported on 27 June in the Galapagos Islands woke up one of the largest volcanoes — Sierra Negra. According to the Ecuadorian geophysical Institute, the volcano has awakened due to the fact that there was a series of quakes of magnitudes up to 4.6, but it is a symptom of igneous seismic activity.

Now Ecuadorian authorities are closely monitoring the seismic and geological activity near one of the largest calderas in the world, craters left from previous eruptions.

Recall, Japan was hit by another natural disaster. The Sakurajima volcano on the southern Japanese island of Kyushu, spewed a column of ash and smoke with a height of 4.7 kilometers, according to local meteorological Department.

The region has a third severity level out of five. This implies a ban on climbing and the approach to the mountain. Experts urge care in a radius of two kilometers from the volcano, because of possible emissions of volcanic stones and lava. Following the fourth and fifth levels, respectively, provide for “evacuation” and “emergency evacuation”.
