Victorian “the Golem” appeared together with a Russian trailer

British painting “the Golem” (The Limehouse Golem) invites the viewer into the London of the second half of the XIX century. The film is an adaptation of a detective novel Peter Ackroyd “the Process of Elizabeth Cree”. In the West the book was published in 1994, it was published in Russian. Readers note the gloom, psychologiest, as well as the era with the colorful music halls and dirty alleys of the big city. In General, the book turned out decent. Get the movie?

Official synopsis:

Victorian London, 1880. Dangerous area of Limehouse shocking series of brutal murders. Scared to death, the people believe that these heinous and ruthless crimes involved none other than the Golem is a clay creature from mythology, animated by magic. Panic grows, and the killing continues. The police don’t know what to do, and as a scapegoat main thing in this case is assigned to an experienced detective, inspector Kildare.

Removed the “Golem” Juan Carlos Medina, previously noted Thriller “Insensitive”. Worked over the script with Jane Goldman, which account for such projects as “Woman in black” and “House of strange children Miss peregrine” (also, incidentally, the film adaptation). The main role initially was to be given to Alan Rickman, but at that time he just put a disappointing diagnosis – a cancer that the actor died in January 2016. Therefore, the chance to track down the Golem’s got the winner of the “Golden globe” bill Nighy, known for the franchise “Another world” and “Pirates of the Caribbean” (he played Davy Jones, captain of the Flying Dutchman). In addition, an important role has got Olivia Cooke (“Bates Motel”, “Ouija: Board of the Devil”), Sam Reid (“Modern Reaper”) and Douglas Booth (“Pride and prejudice and zombies”).

The world premiere took place almost a year ago – in the framework of the international film festival in Toronto. In wide release film coming out this fall, in Russia it will be on view from September 21. The domestic distributor is the company “the Exhibitor”.
