Viber decided to expand their list of services due to Internet Commerce.
Japanese Rakuten – owner of the popular instant messenger has acquired a startup specializing in e-Commerce.
Company Rakuten announced the purchase of Chatter Commerce, a startup from San Francisco that created the first showcase for mobile online shopping ShopChat. Financial details of the transaction is not published.
Earlier this year, Viber has already invested in Chatter Commerce of $1.25.
This technology Viber has already experience in the us market for four months since its launch it has used 30% of customers Viber in the United States.
“We started Chatter Commerce, because people should be able to carry out in chat rooms much more action than now,” said Zephrin Lasker, CEO and co-founder of Chatter Commerce, who heads the e-Commerce business Rakuten Viber.
A team of seven developers Chatter Commerce will be part of the team Rakuten Viber. According to Lasker, the new unit will focus on how to “greatly expand the role of messengers in the daily life of the people.”
Viber, which is owned by Japanese group Rakuten, serving approximately 800 million unique users in 193 countries around the world. In Ukraine the audience of Viber has more than 20 million people.
