Almost 80% of Russians want their children to be volunteers. This is reported by TASS, citing a poll by the Russian center for public opinion studies (VTSIOM).
“Almost the absolute majority (83%) of Russians believe that volunteer work is an example to young people. And 79% of the respondents would like their children were engaged in volunteer activities, was a volunteer”, — quotes Agency the head of the practice of political analysis and consulting VTSIOM Mikhail Mamonov.
According to him, the Russians believe that volunteers are inherent qualities that are most valued in society.
According to the sociologist, the qualities of a volunteer is headed by the kindness (52%), honesty (43%), indifferent (41%), humanity (40%), industry (34%) and friendliness (28%).
Mamonov added that Russians highly appreciate the work of volunteers, given the social problems and the esteem in which volunteers are in the community.
According to results of poll VTSIOM, more often “volunteer” is associated with helping people in various situations (38%). Half took the study of Russians (49%) believe that people become volunteers because of the desire to feel useful. Among other reasons to engage in volunteer activities called “the ability to solve common problems of their own and other people” (30%), the desire to realize themselves and their initiatives (22%) and the desire to live interesting, active lives (21%).
