At Baikove cemetery there was a new wave of vandalism and theft. From several monuments in honour of famous Ukrainians disappeared bronze details.
The monument to the poetess Lesya Ukrainka regularly come tourists. Since February, they see the damaged monument, from which protrude metal rods, where previously attached bronze monogram. In the mayoralty recognise that the restoration of the monument was delayed.
“The delay in the recovery was solely due to the irresponsibility of performers in the ritual service. We are keeping this problem under control and speed up the recovery process. Stolen monograms have already been ordered. They are made of cast iron and painted bronze, to reduce the chance of theft”, – told “Today” in the KSCA.
In addition, we found robbed the monument at the grave of a famous actor Nikolai Grinko (1920-1989). Many generations he is remembered for roles of Pope Carlo in the movie “the adventures of Pinocchio” and Professor Gromov in “the Adventures of electronics”. On the grave of the actor was erected a bronze monument in full growth, the actor relied on the umbrella. Now the umbrella is cut down. In the office Baikove cemetery we are unable to say when it disappeared element of the monument: they say the area is large, 72 hectares, for all will not follow.

“Business is directed to court. With the beginning of the year in the theft of monuments at Baikove cemetery was opened five criminal proceedings. Such an offense is punishable by a fine in 3.4 thousand hryvnias or imprisonment up to three years”, – militiamen told.
Police advise timely appeal to them statements if noticed the theft in cemeteries.
