USA decided to wait for the ethnic cleansing to impose sanctions against Turkey

Turkey has not yet crossed the line for the imposition of U.S. sanctions on Syria, said a senior representative of the US state Department. In his words, his actions, Turkey “has not crossed the red line”.

The American official explained that the U.S. is ready to impose sanctions for ethnic cleansing or indiscriminate attacks on civilians in Northern Syria, however, is that examples of such behavior on the part of Ankara to Washington is not fixed.

“We are talking about ethnic cleansing, indiscriminate artillery, air and other attacks directed against the civilian population. We now follow this, we have not seen any serious examples of this. However, it is too early to talk about it, the Turkish forces actually has not yet moved significantly and in large quantities across the border, so we are still at an early stage. But it is for this reason we do so many alerts, we are very much concerned about these indiscriminate attacks,” the official said, answering the question of what exactly Turkey’s actions would have triggered the imposition of sanctions by the US.

According to him, Turkey’s President Tayyip Erdogan during a telephone conversation with U.S. President Donald trump told him that the Turkish troops are planning to go to Syria on 30 km to create a buffer zone, reports TASS.

The Turkish authorities intend to settle there are 4 million Syrian refugees who are currently in Turkey.

“President Erdogan and his regime should face serious consequences for a ruthless attack against our Kurdish allies in the North of Syria who have lost thousands of people in the battle against ISIS* and helped us to protect our country”, – said the initiator of the bill Liz Cheney, daughter of former Vice President dick Cheney and a member of the house of representatives from Wyoming.

“Sanctions are not only a response to the violent attacks of Erdogan’s regime in Northern Syria. Congress has long been concerned that the regime cooperates with the enemies of the United States, such as Russia. If Turkey wants to be treated like an ally, she should behave accordingly. They need to impose sanctions for attacks on our Kurdish allies,” said Cheney.

Earlier, senators Lindsey Graham and Chris van HOLLEN has proposed a bill to impose sanctions against Turkey, which includes restrictions in relation to the Turkish President and members of his Cabinet, sanctions against the energy sector of Turkey. It is proposed to prohibit military cooperation of the USA with Ankara and to impose sanctions for the purchase by Turkey of the Russian s-400.
