“United Russia” has achieved revision of the decision on the return of the fine for speeding

The party “United Russia” has achieved revision of the decision on the return of the fine for exceeding the speed limit by 10 km/h, but does not eliminate the question of control and will continue to defend the rights of motorists.

This was stated by the Federal coordinator of the party project “United Russia” “Safe roads”, Deputy Chairman of the Duma Committee on transport and construction Vladimir Afonsky.

“There is no evidence that would justify the return of the fine for exceeding the speed limit by 10 km/h to Rely on the European experience also does not make sense, we have completely different specifics in this direction. Therefore, we must start from the existing realities,” he said.

Athos recalled that the party project “Safe road” held on 21 February with a public discussion of initiatives on strengthening of administrative responsibility of drivers for violating the speed limit. “The vast majority of respondents were against the initiative that was supported by experts. In considering such initiatives need to build on existing realities. For example, installed cameras, fixing speeding, unfortunately, in most cases, have an error. Therefore, reducing the allowable threshold up to 10 km/hour, we may be faced with a large number of unjustified penalties for allegedly accomplished by speeding,” — said Athos.

He also believes that violators will continue to violate the speed limit, even if the threshold will be reduced to 0 km/h. “Therefore, the return of the fine for exceeding the speed limit by 10 km/h hit it is for law-abiding citizens, responsible drivers. We welcome the Government’s decision, but do not remove its control and will last up to defend the rights of ordinary and honest drivers,” concluded Athos.

We will remind, earlier the Ministry of transport and Ministry of internal Affairs has proposed amendments to the Code of administrative offences (Cao) on the introduction of a new penalty for exceeding the speed limit by 10 km/h drivers of vehicles.
