Under the oldest pyramid discovered mysterious subway

An unexpected archaeological find was discovered under the pyramid of Chichen Itza.

Archaeologists found the tunnel under the pyramid of Chichen Itza in Mexico. It could lead to flooding poronoy caves and cenotes at the base of the temple.

Tunnel found using the radar. It sends electromagnetic signals and created three-dimensional model of structures under the ground around the pyramid.

Thus was discovered a tunnel with a funeral room.

“We were in the cave under the temple through the funeral parlor and found a blocked passage, which is closed, probably, the Maya. Soon we will be back and this time try to open it, to see whether the passage to the entrance of the cenote under the pyramid,” said archaeologist Guillermo de Anda.

The temple was built Maya 900-1100 years ago. It is dedicated to the God KUKULCAN. The Indians believed that God was born in a cave under the temple.

Historians have proved that the pyramids of Teotihuacan in Mexico represent the idea of the Aztecs about the afterlife. Archaeologists found the tunnel under the pyramid of the moon. In ancient times it was decorated with ritual objects.
