Chemical danger comes from the water supply facilities with stocks of chlorine, which are fired by terrorists in the Donbas.
Ukraine may be faced with a chemical disaster because of fighting near the water supply in the Donbass, in particular we are talking about Donetsk filtering station, where firing has damaged chloroplast. This conclusion about the situation in the East of Ukraine was expressed by the special Rapporteur on the human rights implications of environmentally sound management and disposal of hazardous substances and waste Baschuk, Tonak and the special Rapporteur on the human rights to safe drinking water and sanitation, léo Heller.
They said that concerned by recent reports of bombardments near Donetsk, under which fall the water reserves of chlorine and other hazardous chemicals.
“The damage to this infrastructure and the destruction of water treatment plants can have horrific consequences for the population and environment in large parts of Eastern Ukraine,” they warn.

They also recalled the decision of the tripartite group, according to which all parties must respect the demilitarized areas around critical infrastructure in the Donbas.
Earlier, the UN humanitarian coordinator in Ukraine Neil Walker also expressed concern over the shelling of Donetsk and verhnekalmiusskaya filter stations. According to him, if the shot has hit at least one container with a poisonous gas the lethal dose received by all who is within 200 meters from the explosion site.
Earlier, the UN Secretariat stated that it did not discuss sending peacekeepers to the Donbass.
