UN: the Donbass is becoming one of the most heavily mined regions in the world

According to the defense Ministry from July 2014 to November this year from mines in the Donbass injured soldier 701 and 199 soldiers were killed. From the beginning of 2017 explosive devices detonated 134 soldiers, of whom 34 died.

According to the State service of Ukraine on emergencies, in 2014, in the Donbass as a result of mine-explosive traumas has suffered more than 160 civilians, including 23 children.

Of them 50 people were killed, among them 4 children. Only since the beginning of this year, the mine blew up 29 people, including five children.

National Manager environmental Economics and military and political programs coordinator of OSCE in Ukraine Yaroslav Yurtsaba noted that for clearing all mined areas in controlled and uncontrolled areas should 15-20 years.

“This is assuming that the combat will be halted until the end of this year. If chaotic mining will continue in the future, it is already serious humanitarian and economic development of Ukraine “, – he stressed, adding that this issue requires immediate solutions.
