UN sounds alarm and calls Yemen one of the worst places on Earth.
The representative of the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Middle East and North Africa Gert Kappeler called Yemen one of the worst places on Earth for children.
Citing assessments by UNICEF, he said that about 11 million children in Yemen are in need of emergency humanitarian assistance, and “every 10 minutes in Yemen from diseases that can be prevented, a child dies”.
“Unfortunately, the war in Yemen has become a war against children” — emphasizes Kappeler. According to him, since the beginning of operation, led by Saudi Arabia of the international coalition against the Yemeni rebels, the Houthis, have been killed or seriously injured about 5 thousand children.
