Ukrainians are ready to carry kids through all of Europe for the vaccine.
In Ukraine, emerging a new kind of tourism in Europe — vaccination. Parents who are unable to find in our country, for example, the vaccine viral meningitis, increasingly decide to take their children to be vaccinated abroad. Reporters learned which countries Ukrainians consider in the first place and how are things with vaccines in Ukraine.

In his post on Facebook Alice Protsenko says that the local clinic was not able to find a vaccine against meningococcus (viral meningitis), which in Kiev had died three children. So the woman asked the question: is it possible to instill-year-old son during a trip to the EU. It liked the idea to several parents who have offered to cooperate and to arrange a group tour for vaccines for children.
According to townswoman Anna Oh, Biruk, who supported vaccination round, the idea is not new — before granting Ukraine bezveza existed of companies that were issued a special visa under medical travel.
“They met you at the airport, recorded by the doctors in advance, acted as interpreters during communication and helped in the preparation of documents. Now everything is much easier — my husband flew in the early summer in Germany. He agreed and paid all the bills in the clinic,” — said Biruk.
Some parents wondered: would it be possible just to come to europalink and to vaccinate the child.
“The main thing in advance to make an appointment and book the vaccine. On the spot will only need to provide a passport vaccination that the doctor knew what shots and when he did” soothes Svetlana Dickov that has a similar experience.
She adds that it is cheaper to do vaccinations in Poland is closer and the same vaccine will cost about 1000 UAH. In Germany, according to her, the vaccine will cost up to 1.5 thousand UAH. While Natalya from Kiev said that they found the right vaccine in Poland and have an appointment for early December, “it will do for pneumococcus and influenza. Is it worth all on four (two kids and my husband) about 20-25 thousand.”
Risks
However, some parents recalled: doctors advise not to return home immediately after vaccination and did not release a while children on the street due to the increased risk of getting sick.
However, children’s infectious diseases Lyudmila Ward says that in this case, any strict medical advice and no such fears are unfounded: “on the other hand, I don’t really understand the desire to instill in your child from viral meningitis in Europe. As far as I know, we have in hospitals, a vaccine from it. Although there may be temporary shortages of their supply”.
A virologist, head of Department of respiratory and other viral infections of the Institute of epidemiology and infectious diseases named gromashevskiy Alla Mironenko said that the vaccination of meningococcus does not give 100% protection, “of Course, will not be worse, if you vaccinate a child. But the vaccine does not protect against all types of illness, and from that form of meningitis which prevail with us in the vaccine just protection and not. But the meningococcus is not so resistant by itself — if it falls to the outside temperature, and it has not infected them.”
The Ministry of health in Ukraine, hundreds of thousands of doses of vaccine
The Ministry of health announced that the vaccine against viral meningitis in some Ukrainian hospitals there.
“But to date vaccination against the disease is not included in the immunization schedule as required, and refers to recommended, — told the “Today” in a press-service of the Ministry of health. — So the specific vaccine against meningitis is not purchased for budget funds. It can procure for the money of local budgets or the citizens in the private order.”
The Ministry of health specify that, as of November 1, across the country, there were more than 218 thousand doses of vaccines against meningitis. According to the Ministry, most of the doses in the Lviv region for over 25 353 pieces. The worst situation in the Volyn (36 pieces) and Kherson regions (108 pieces). The Ministry added that Ukraine today was a vaccine against meningococcal disease “Menactra”. In Metropolitan pharmacies the price ranges from 800 to 1000 UAH.
“Today, the issue of inclusion specific vaccine against meningitis and other vaccines (pneumococcal, rotavirus and human papillomavirus infections) to the national immunization schedule has been studied and, in our opinion, should be considered separately, taking into account many factors, in addition to the Ministry of health. — In this case, we separately consider the possibility of introducing routine vaccination with pneumococcal vaccine”.
