Today Ukraine celebrates the unofficial holiday dedicated to the traditional national along – embroidery. Embroidered day was established in 2007 and since then is celebrated annually on the third Thursday of may.
On this day citizens are encouraged to wear embroidered shirts and leave them on the street. This is done as a sign of unity and respect for their Homeland.
Invented the holiday, students of Chernivtsi national University. Of Handicrafts, and in 2010, the Day embroidered pointed out in other Ukrainian cities.
The heads of state congratulated Ukrainians on the occasion.
So, the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko on the page in Facebook posted a short video for the occasion.
“Let our national clothing inspires us to new victories!”, – wrote the head of state.
In turn, Prime Minister Vladimir Groisman noted that the embroidery unites Ukrainians, while maintaining their traditions.
