Two Ukrainians became applicants for the Memorial award Astrid Lindgren, which is awarded for contribution to the development of children’s and youth literature.
In a list of the 235 candidates from 60 different countries were the writer Zirka, Manzatu, which was written approximately 20 children’s and teenage books, including “Poppy reign” and “the Secret of the Cossack swords”. The writer has already won several Ukrainian awards, and also became the winner of literary competition in the United States.
The second Ukrainian in the list was the artist Kost lavro. The rights to his recognizable graphics acquired world famous publishers from the USA, Switzerland and France.
The award of memory Astrid Lindgren award in 2002. This is one of the most prestigious awards in the field of child and youth literature. The prize money is 5 million SEK.
