Ukrainian writer made an unexpected statement about the protests in Russia

Zhadan has revealed a clear link between the protests in Russia and the war in the Donbass.

Ukrainian writer Serhiy Zhadan analyzed the reaction of Ukrainians to the events in Russia, namely the large-scale anti-corruption rallies.

He noted that five years ago the Russians could count on our sympathy and solidarity, but now, in the context of a hybrid war, this is not happening.

“It would seem that a common enemy must unite. It would seem that posters in support of Ukraine should inspire. But somehow not very inspiring. Well, really, who sees today in conventional Bulk potential ally of Ukraine? Even sounds funny,” says Zhadan.

The writer believes that three years of war, Russian and Ukrainian so broke that even situational support is not possible here. The position of Ukraine, he describes briefly and succinctly: “Leave us alone”, but at the same time says he won’t leave.

“The question immediately arises: if you put this situational allies simple question about whose Crimea – what is the answer? Three years of a real war outweigh all the possible processes of democratization and liberalization of Russian society, which ought to count in the short term in case of success of the protests,” he says.

Zhadan is considered very important what is happening in Russia, and finds a clear link between rallies against corruption in Russia and its participation in the war in the Donbass.

“Because that’s where, they, go the flow of arms to the Donbass, that there are information waves that knocked down the least sustainable of our compatriots. So even the local, tactical changes that will happen there will affect us. For example, on the number of our dead. According to Zhadan, Ukrainians should observe the processes of democratization and the emergence of new leaders in Russia, and also to use this time as productively to their own country.
