Ukrainian recognized as a rising star of European athletics

Ukrainian high jumper Yulia Levchenko won the category “Rising star” by the European athletics Federation.

Levchenko brilliant spent his first full season at senior level – from Kiev won silver at the world Championships in London, came in third at the winter Championships, took second place in the final of the Diamond League, and also became the winner of the youth European championship.

Levchenko to voting, the media, national federations-members of the European athletics Association (EA) and experts Levchenko left behind the German Constanta Klosterhalfen and a Turkish woman Yasemin Kan.

“I knew about the existence of this award, but did not expect that I would be among the candidates. I had a successful season, and it is very nice that not only I noticed it, and not only in my country but also in Europe”, – quotes the words Levchenko official website of the athletics Federation.

“Rising star” among men became Norwegian runner in the 400-meter hurdles Carsten Arholm, and the best athlete of Europe by the end of 2017 recognized Ekaterini, Stefanidi (Greece, pole vault) and Johannes Vetter (Germany, javelin).
