The Ministry of health of Ukraine has engaged in harmonization of the Ukrainian standards of medicine, with regards to the medical examination of drivers, in accordance with the laws of the European Union to reduce the number of accidents on the roads of Ukraine.
This was announced by the Deputy Director of Department – head of the Department of medical assistance Department of adult medical care, Ministry of health of Ukraine Andrey Gavrilyuk.
“The Ministry of health explores and develops the issues of harmonization of national medical standards medical examination of candidates for drivers and drivers of vehicles in accordance with EU legislation,” said Gavrilyuk.
“It is the systematization of orders of preventive narcological examinations, the mandatory preliminary and periodic psychiatric examinations of candidates for drivers and drivers of vehicles. Following the development and implementation of the health-care system drivers of vehicles providing services for the carriage of passengers and goods, the procedure for conducting psycho-physiological examination and assessment of the level of development of professionally important psycho-physiological qualities necessary for the safe operation of the vehicle”, – said Andrey Gavrilyuk.
In addition, the representative of the Ministry of health of Ukraine reported that the national database will be compiled which will indicate the condition and physiological properties of potential drivers and drivers. Its main purpose is to monitor the health of drivers. It also helps to create a concept concerning the Ukrainian recovery system and support the health of people who have suffered in road traffic accidents.
Note that in Ukraine registered the highest road deaths among all European countries. In Ukraine the accident are the first cause of death among people aged 15 to 24 years, the second among children aged 5 to 14 years.
