Ukrainian military will receive $168 million of additional funding

President enacted the NSDC decision on the allocation of funds from the “accounts of Yanukovych”.

President Poroshenko signed a decree enacted the decision of national security Council on additional financing needs of defense.

The government was instructed to submit to Parliament a proposal to increase the expenditures of the General Fund budget for 2017 on security and defense in the amount of 9.5 billion hryvnia (3.5 out of General Fund and 6 from the special Fund of the state budget).

This includes funds that were confiscated from the accounts in the “Oshchadbank” and other banks of Ukraine of persons from the entourage of former President Viktor Yanukovych.

In particular, UAH 1 billion must go for the purchase of weapons and military equipment, 1.4 billion – for the purchase and manufacture of ammunition. Want another billion allocated for the construction of housing for servicemen.

Modern weapons and military equipment needs to allocate 600 million hryvnia (in particular, on the implementation of development work development of a new missile – 300.0 million, the delivery of armored BM “Oplot” – 300.0 million).
