Ukraine will appeal against the decision of Interpol on the removal from search of Yanukovych

The Department argued that the decision of Interpol adopted because of the shortcomings of the Ukrainian legislation.

The decision of Interpol on removal from the wanted list ex-the President Victor Yanukovych will be appealed.

This was stated by the head of the Department of special investigation GPU Sergey Gorbatyuk, the press service of the GPU in Facebook.

According to him, the information received in law enforcement bodies of Ukraine at the end of April 2017. The bodies of Interpol has warned of the confidentiality of the information provided and the prohibition on the disclosure of details.

“The decision is motivated by existing weaknesses of the Ukrainian legislation concerning election of a measure of restraint in respect of wanted persons and the status of the suspect. To date, the findings of the Interpol processed, the results of which a decision is made regarding further actions and, in particular, possible changes to existing legislation… the decision will be appealed”, – said in comments the Gorbatyuk.

He also stressed that the withdrawal from the international search Yanukovych was not because of shortcomings in the investigation or the violations by the investigative authorities.

As you know, at the request of the investigators of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, the Interpol has declared former President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych on the wanted list in the criminal proceedings in his suspicion of embezzling funds allocated for the construction of telecommunication lines special communications during the privatization of “Ukrtelecom”.
