Ukraine may not be extradited to Georgia ex-Governor of the Odessa region Mikhail Saakashvili, while Georgian court will make a decision in his case. This was stated by the Deputy Minister of justice of Ukraine Denis Chernyshov on air of TV channel 112 Ukraine.
“Still nothing in Ukraine happened, in addition to the transition Saakashvili across the border. The documents that came to us (to the Ministry of justice – ed.) and the General Prosecutor of Ukraine against Mr Saakashvili, shows that in Georgia a criminal case against him,” he said.
Chernyshov said that this is not the next stage in carrying out extradition, and in this stage, the Ministry of justice is not involved. “If Saakashvili had already been convicted in Georgia under those articles which he named in his press conference, my colleague, Mr cocks (Deputy Minister of justice Sergei Petukhov, ed.), when it was a partial prerogative of the justice Ministry”, – said Chernyshov.
The leading question of whether Ukraine not to extradite Saakashvili of Georgia, unless there’s a court decision, the Deputy Minister replied in the affirmative.
