This is the second transfer of prisoners from occupied territory in Luhansk region.
Ukraine on Thursday, February 7, took 33 prisoners who were serving sentences in correctional institutions on the territory of the occupied Russian areas of Luhansk region.
This was announced by the Parliament Commissioner for human rights Lyudmila Denisova on Facebook.
“Today in the town we handed over 33 prisoners, who were in penal institutions in certain districts temporarily occupied territory of Luhansk region, to continue serving the sentence on the government-controlled Ukrainian territory,” – wrote the Ombudsman.
In December 2018 Ukraine took from ORLO another 42 inmates, 12 of which as of February was released.
In September 2018, it was reported that at least 184 convicted of crimes prior to 2014, serving a sentence in the territory of the ORDO and ORLO, asked to be transferred to the territory controlled by Ukraine.
