Ukrainian boxers in the home Championships in Kharkiv, has won the most gold awards.
On the final day of the continental forum Ukraine could count on four gold – in the finals of their weight categories have qualified Viktor Vykhryst (over 91 kg), Yuri Shestak (to 60 kg), Alexander Khizhnyak (75 kg) and Nikolay butsenko (56 kg).
Vykhryst in a spectacular battle by unanimous decision (5:0) stopped Briton Fraser Clark. Sestak, despite a standing knockdown in the second round, split decision (4:1) dealt with Russian Gabilan Mammadov. Khizhnyak in dominant style throughout each of the three rounds to beat the Azerbaijanian Kamran Shahsavari. Judges outside the ring didn’t remain anything else how to fix the victory of Alexander by unanimous decision (5:0).
The only blip in the final occurred in butsenko – Nicholas in equal fight was no worse than the Englishman Peter Makhala. However, the judges chose to give the gold in the hands of the visitor.
Thus, on the European Championships, the Ukrainian team won six medals (3-1-2) and got 8 out of 10 licenses for the world Cup in
Hamburg.
