Ukraine running out of gas

Experts are sounding the alarm because of the acute shortage of petrol in the country.

In October 2017 from Belarus, Ukraine imported only 4 thousand tons of gasoline A-92. This is 91% less than the average monthly volume of deliveries from this country. Such data are the “Consulting group “A-95”.

Meanwhile, analysts say that so far the Belarusian fuel shut 98% of import 92 octane petrol in our country. According to their estimates, the deficit of gasoline of this brand in October amounted to 35 thousand tons, which has already begun to affect retail prices.

Such a sharp drop in the import of Belarusian A-92 is due to the stop of the Mozyr oil refinery for scheduled maintenance. The plant was completely frozen on 10 September and the forecasts were to resume in late October. However, to date, on completion of the overhaul of the refinery there. Although earlier representatives of the plant said that the work is carried out in accordance with the schedule.

According to experts, the deficit of 92-octane gasoline in October due to a sharp reduction in supplies of Belarusian fuel was about 40%. Some networks have even started to look for alternative sources of imports.

So, in late October, WOG stated that the import of 5.6 tons of A-92 Romanian manufacturing (refinery Petrobrazi (OMV Petrom). Deliveries are carried out by sea.

“The Belarusian shortage of supply along with the increase in world prices will keep the price tension in Ukraine throughout November. We had hoped the passage of this period with a stable price, but the depth of the short supply and rising prices in the world are pushing prices up,” commented the Director of “Consulting group A-95” Sergey Kuiun.

At the same time, prices for Ukrainian gas stations continue to grow. The average cost of gasoline grades A-92 and A95 to from 31 Oct 1 Nov added 6 kopecks./l. of Diesel went up by 6 kopecks./l. In networks of OKKO and folk the prices of all fuels have increased by 50 kopecks./KLO added to the price tag of 20 kopecks.
