In the first half of 2017 entered the territory of Ukraine 6.3 million foreign tourists, which is 8.7% more than in the same period last year.

The Ministry noted that the world tourism organization (UNWTO) refers to the number of tourists individuals who crossed the border from official, business, private, religious purpose, with the purpose of tourism and education, cultural and sports exchanges, transit and the like.
So tourists that define the purpose of their trip “for personal reasons”, are also included in the total number of tourists. According to the gpsu in the first half 2017 with the aim of “tourism” in Ukraine drove 19,2 thousand people.
“However, this figure does not reflect the real situation, as it is calculated using only data provided by citizens at the border crossings. The term “tourist” covers a wider range of people than those who determine the purpose of their trip tourism, so in fact the information on the purpose of “tourism” does not reflect the real number of tourists visiting Ukraine”, – explained in the Ministry.
