Ukraine increased its coal reserves

Stocks of anthracite per week increased by 3%.

The scarce reserves of anthracite coal in the warehouses of Ukrainian thermal power plants from 27 June to 5 July of the current year increased by 3% to 698,3 thousand tons.

About it reports a press-service of the Ministry of energy and coal industry.

At the same time stocks of gas coal decreased by 3.6% to 1759000 tons 1824000 tons. In General, the stocks of solid fuel in warehouses of thermal power plants dropped by 1.8% to 2457000 tons.

Ukraine because of the fighting in the East of the country is experiencing a significant shortage of coal, primarily of energy (hard coal) mining is concentrated in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, the areas controlled by the rebels. Coal shortage affects power plants, which are forced to reduce production capacity. For the stable operation of the power system previously scarce anthracite were imported from South Africa and imported to the uncontrolled territory of Ukraine. Particularly acute question of supply of coal for thermal generation after the blockade coal shipments from the area ATO at the end of January 2017.
