Ukraine was threatened with expulsion from future Eurovision contests.
In the media, a letter to the leaders of the European broadcasting Union (EBU) the Prime Minister of Ukraine, in which Kiev warned about sanctions.
The European broadcasting Union (EBU) on Friday, March 31, confirmed the authenticity of the published on the Eurovision website Oikotimes of the letter head of the EBU Ingrid Deltenre Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groisman.
In this document Deltenre warned Groisman, Ukraine may be excluded from future competitions if the Ukrainian government will not allow to enter the country, the Russian contestant Yulia Samoilova. In addition, it was announced by Ukrainian Prime Minister that some of the participants of the competition do not exclude the possibility to leave it.
“None of the host countries previously did not hinder the performance of any artist at the Eurovision song contest, so the EBU would not want to set a precedent in 2017. We are considering the exclusion of Russian singer from the competition as unacceptable step,” the letter says. As the possible consequences of Ukraine may be excluded from future competitions, said Ingrid Deltenre in a letter sent on March 23.
According to the document, several countries have already appealed to the EBU criticized the Ukrainian decision and stated that they are considering the opportunity to leave the competition. “We have no information on what Yulia Samoilova may pose a threat to national security of Ukraine”, – said in the letter.
We will remind, on March 22, the SBU has banned entry to the territory of Ukraine Samoilova for a period of three years. According to the head of the Department of interaction with mass media and public relations of SBU Elena Gutlyanskii, “the decision was made on the basis of the data on violation of legislation of Ukraine”.
According to media reports, the shooting in June of 2015 took part in the gala concert “the World of sports and the good” in Russian-occupied Crimea. This information have confirmed in the Kremlin.
