The money supply decreased by 0.6% to 1,060 trillion UAH.
By the end of February 2017 the money supply decreased by 0.6% to 1,060 trillion UAH due to reduction of deposits and cash in circulation outside banks.
This is evidenced by preliminary data on Monetary statistics for February 2017.
“The balances of deposits of the corporate sector in national currency decreased by 1.1% under the influence of the simultaneous action of two differently directed factors. On the one hand, the reduction of deposits of legal entities was typical for the period of payment of quarterly tax payments on the other hand, we observed the inflow of budget funds into banks, in particular, of means of local budgets”, – said the NBU.
According to the report, balances of household deposits in national currency by the end of February rose 1.3%, almost fully compensated the reduction of deposits of businesses.
“In particular, at the end of February, the portfolio of loans to business in the national currency has not changed. Several more rapidly growing portfolio of hryvnia loans to households, which in February increased by 0.8%,” – said the national Bank.
