UK archaeologists have discovered a sensational find

Archaeologists have found the remains of a medieval priest who was murdered with a blunt object

Archaeologists have discovered in the UK, the remains of a medieval priest with traces of head injuries, inclined to physical work, and probably died of hunger.

A stone coffin with a skeleton of a priest was found within the Abbey of Thornton was founded in 1139. As was engraved on the tomb inscriptions, it was the remains of the priest, Richard de V of PETON, who died April 17, 1317.

Despite the high status, the analysis of the teeth showed that his childhood priest was suffering from malnutrition. In addition, judging by the marks on the skull, he received a severe head injury. Study of the skeleton revealed that the priest was often engaged in heavy physical labor. At the time of his death he was between 35 and 45 years, and the height was about 160 cm 3D scan showed that the head injury was inflicted with a blunt object before death.

The researchers suggest that the priest died of starvation during the Great famine (1315-1317). The abbeys often cared for the poor and the sick, providing them with resources, including food. Perhaps Richard spent his last days caring for the needy.
