Uber stops operating in Denmark

Due to the adoption of a new law regulating the taxi, 2 000 drivers in Denmark will be without work.

Taxi service Uber will no longer work in Denmark, RBC reports referring to the representative of Uber Nordic Christian Agerbo. This occurred due to the adoption of a new law regulating the activities of taxi.

Agerbo announced that the service will stop working on April 18. At the moment the company in Denmark has 2 000 drivers.

“The law is already ready for signing, and we have to accept these conditions, but we can’t. Also can not the passengers and drivers. So we decided to close,” — said the representative of Uber. Separately, he said that the company should support drivers who worked for the company, “to take care of them and help them to provide themselves with everything necessary”.

Recall recently, it was reported that Uber has suspended testing of its unmanned taxi. This decision was taken after the car is in Autonomous control mode involved in an accident. The incident occurred in Tempe, Arizona.

At the time of the accident in the test car was the driver, but the vehicle was moving in an unmanned mode. At the intersection, a taxi crashed into a passenger car. From blow the drone turned upside down. According to preliminary data, the culprit was the driver of the other car, which missed the Autonomous vehicle Uber. The incident resulted in no injuries.

The company Uber has received permission to test unmanned taxi in Arizona in November last year. The program was coordinated with local authorities. Previously, Uber was forced to stop using the vehicles-drones-as a taxi in San Francisco. With such claims made by California authorities. The government has said that Uber does not have a special permit for the use of Autonomous cars on the roads of the state. In addition, the local authorities threatened the company with lawsuits if Uber will continue its tests.

The conflict was solved only in March of this year. California authorities allowed testing two unmanned aerial vehicles on public roads. However, the company forbidden to carry on these machines passengers.
