The U.S. Department of defense officially announced the confirmed results of earlier carried out operations to destroy high-ranking militants of al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula. The corresponding statement the Pentagon issued on Friday.
“As a result of airstrikes U.S. forces destroyed five operatives of al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula in the province of al-Bayda in the Yemen,” the report says.
At the same time it is clarified that the operation was carried out on 20 November with the aim of neutralization of the terrorist network.
It was reportedly eliminated high-ranking leaders of a terrorist group. Among them Mujahid al-ADANI, also known as Mohammad Shukri, who was responsible for planning and carrying out terrorist attacks in Yemen and against the coalition forces. In addition, the Pentagon announced the elimination of the coordinator of the militant bases in al Bayda Abu Leith al-Sanaani, and also three more important in the circles of the terrorist network al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.
As emphasized in the defense Ministry of the USA, the elimination of key figures of al-Qaeda in the region “will increasingly limit the freedom to maneuver and operations of terrorist networks, limiting their ability to threaten the security forces and the Coalition” in Yemen and the region as a whole.
