Members of the meeting Committee of the Kyiv city Council on culture, tourism and information policy supported the draft decision on renaming the two Metropolitan theaters.
On the draft decision proposed to be renamed “Kiev municipal academic puppet theatre,” “Theatrical cultural institution” Kyiv municipal academic puppet theatre on the left Bank of the Dnieper “.
The Chairman of the Commission kiyevsovet Victoria Mucha said that the reference in the name of the geographical location of the theater is necessary, since there were cases when people bought tickets to the puppet theatre, situated on the left Bank of the Dnieper, and came to the show in the puppet theatre in the city centre.
It is also planned to rename the “Experimental workshop “puppet Theatre”. From the title it is proposed to remove “experimental”, since the theatre has created more than 20 years ago and he has already proved that it can work as a full-fledged cultural institution. The theater may get a new name – “Theatrical institution of culture” Creative workshop “Theatre of puppets”.
It is noted that the draft decision will be considered at the plenary session of the city Council.
