The US President Donald trump called Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s friend and said that the U.S. and Turkey are closer than ever.
“He became my friend, he gets very high marks for his leadership,” said trump at a meeting with Turkish counterpart in new York.
“We are now closer than ever,” added the US President.
Recall Erdogan arrived in the U.S. on a visit to participate in the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly. According to his words, he is “happy to have the opportunity to meet with trump to discuss Turkish-American relations and regional problems”.
It is expected that the parties will discuss, among other things, the extradition of the opposition Islamic preacher Fethullah Gulen, the situation in Syria and Iraq, where on the 25th of September, the referendum on the independence of Iraqi Kurdistan.
