The President of the United States Donald trump announced the US withdrawal from the Paris climate agreement.
“We come out of the Paris agreement, but will begin talks on joining again or in the Paris agreement, or in a completely different transaction on fair terms, for American business, workers, and taxpayers,” − said the American leader.
He stressed that further U.S. actions will depend on whether they will be able to conclude a “fair deal”.
Trump said that the Paris climate agreement puts the US at a disadvantage, creating benefits for other countries. According to him, the States could lose about 2.7 million jobs by 2025 due to an agreement.
Paris climate deal − the first global climate agreement that specifies a plan of action to curb global warming. It was signed in December 2015 194 countries. The document envisages the adoption of measures to reduce carbon emissions, technological reequipment and adaptation to climate change.
Earlier, several media outlets reported that trump decided to fulfill his campaign promise to withdraw the U.S. from the agreement providing for reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
