Travelers from “visa waiver countries” will be more difficult to get into the EU

Tourists from “visa waiver countries” will have to be tested prior to arrival in the EU, using the European system of authorization and information on travel (ETIAS).

This idea can be implemented already in 2021.

As stated by the MEP from Hungary Kinga Gal, this check will not create any problems for regular travelers.

“It will be a simple process, just an online test that people can pass before you travel to the EU,” she said.

Citizens of “visa waiver countries” will have to complete an online form before travel. In the application, among other things, there will be questions in criminal cases in the past or a visit to the applicants conflict zones. This will allow the authorities to determine if any of the travelers be a threat after the arrival in the EU. If there are such suspicions, travelers can refuse entry.

According to the draft of “authorization” will cost 7 euros, the entry permit will be in force for three years (do not need to submit an application and pay a fee before each trip). Authorization will be free for people under the age of 18 years and above 70 years.

The decision to allow or to prohibit the entry will take the guards.
