The production version of the vehicle might appear in 2030.
Toyota has brought to Geneva three-wheel concept i-TRIL, which was created in order to show the vision of the manufacturer of cars of the future. The prototype developed by the brand together with the French design center ED2, there are no traditional controls — a steering wheel and pedals, and instead used a joystick under each hand.
This car uses a landing formula “1+2” — one seat in front and two behind. The seat rotates 90 degrees at the time of the start and stop of motor to facilitate the landing. The multimedia system i-TRIL only works through voice control. All the commands from the joysticks are transmitted “by wire” with no mechanical connection to the corresponding nodes.
Length of the car is 2830 mm. Height — 1460 millimeters, and the weight is about 600 pounds. On one charge i-TRIL can travel almost 300 kilometers.
In the “Toyota” name the new alternative to traditional city hatchbacks and motorcycles. The tricycle has an Active Lean system, which debuted four years ago on the prototype i-Road. This technology allows the car to lean into bends like a motorcycle. On the basis of the rotation angle of the steering wheel, the speed of the machine and indications of the gyroscope, electronics calculates the required angle of inclination, which will not allow the car to tip over.
