Toyota already showed a camouflaged prototype of the Supra.
Toyota has issued a press release in which it announced that their new Supra sports car will be officially presented at the auto show in Detroit on 14 January 2019.
This year, Toyota already showed a camouflaged prototype of the Supra at the Festival of speed at Goodwood, then a prototype GT4-spec took part in the VLN race at the Nurburgring, and before that at the motor show in Geneva the company introduced the concept Supra, confirmed plans for its release.
Production of the new Supra will start in the first half of 2019 in Austria along with the new BMW Z4. Both models are built on the same platform and use the same engine, but Toyota officials have repeatedly said that the car is designed and tuned separately from each other.
The new generation Supra will be powered by 3-liter inline 6-cylinder engine twin-turbo, issuing 340 horsepower and accelerates to 100 km/h in less than 5 seconds. Toyota says that the chassis of the car will get perfect balance due to equal distribution of weight on axes (50:50), and active differential with limited slip and an adaptive suspension.
