On the runway aerospace test center Mojave, California, the company Toyota has set a new record: tuned 2000-horsepower Land Cruiser 200 up to 370 km/h.
Note that set before the start of the “ceiling” was equal to 354 km/h. In any case, it is more than the record noted in the Guinness book — Mercedes-Benz GLK with V12 engine in the Brabus treatment, which can accelerate to 340 km/h.
However, the name Toyota will show off instead of a Mercedes — the record is not counted. Representatives of the Book of records referred to the fact that the Land Cruiser 200, which was used for the race, is not even a low volume vehicle, unlike the Mercedes which can buy anyone — would be money. Behind the wheel during a high speed race was the ex-racer of Toyota in the NASCAR Carl Edwards.
Recall, the 2000-strong SUV based on Toyota Land Cruiser 200 was presented last fall. The car is equipped with upgraded V8 volume of 5.7 liters with a pair of turbines the company’s Garret, a specially prepared gearbox from Performance Products. At the premiere of the representatives of Toyota said that literally every element of this “car” has been upgraded for a specific task — to achieve maximum speed.
Interestingly, tuning the SUV lost all-wheel drive, – wheel drive left rear.
