The popularity of Kiev is growing.
The Ukrainian capital is faster than all attracts new tourists. European tourists are increasingly compare Kiev to Berlin.
This was stated by the head of tourism Department of economy and investments of Kyiv city state administration Anton Taranenko.
“There is a saying, which is now very popular: “Kyiv is the new Berlin”. 15 years ago it was in Berlin that such events have occurred, we can say the revolution of people’s consciousness. It is not only in the cultural or infrastructural terms, in terms of understanding how everything is happening in the city. For example, in Berlin 15 years ago, there was a culture that cannot be called a hipster, she’s more free and positive. Now it is in Kiev. The Europeans come and say: “This is the Berlin that was 15 years ago, but modern,” he said.
According to Taranenko, now number one in the Kiev region in attendance is Chernobyl, which last year was visited by over 70 thousand foreign tourists.
The official noted that now “everyone is bored of Prague, bored with London, bored with the places that annually do not change in a certain way.”
“Two years ago, we fought with great security problem. Now we sell Kiev for the weekend. Kyiv is an event for the weekend. Come join us for a couple of days! If you are a believer, a Christian, you can visit our shrines. If you enjoy gastronomic tourism, you can visit many establishments.
