MOSCOW, February 21. /TASS/. The Association of tour operators of Russia (ATOR) has addressed to the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail mishustina a letter with a request to compensate for 590 million roubles actual direct losses of travel agencies that have arisen because of the situation with the outbreak of a new type of coronavirus in China. This was announced on Friday, the TASS Executive Director ATOR Maya Lomidze.
Total direct losses of tour operators in outbound tourism from the early termination of programs in China, and early evacuation of tourists are preliminarily estimated at 450 million rubles. Direct losses of tour operators in inbound tourism due to the loss of Chinese tourists, excluding loss of profit, pre-amounted to 140 million rubles, calculated in ATOR. Total losses are estimated at 590 million rubles.
“ATOR asks to compensate for the entire amount,” – said Lomidze, answering the question TASS.
As noted in the message ATOR posted on the website of the Association, the Ministry of transport of the Russian Federation stated that the carriers on China and forced to stop flying to China, counting on compensation from the state of actual losses and lost profits. “We believe that tourism is also one of the sectors that have suffered huge losses from a situation-related coronavirus” – are excerpts from the letter in the message. The Association “encourages the government to consider the possibility of elaboration of the system of compensation of losses of tour operator companies through subsidies from the budget,” he said in ATOR.
