Popular Ukrainian singer Tina Karol has participated in the project “Shchyri”, in which 16 Ukrainian celebrities dressed in traditional costumes from different regions of Ukraine.
Especially for “Schiri” Tina tried Ukrainian wedding costume from the beginning of the XIX century, according to ELLE.
“I have long wanted to participate in such a project, says Tina. – This is a great initiative, which is reminiscent of our traditions and roots, helps in identification. Now my goal is to be sincere and to always remember where I come from”.
Stylists project – Marichka Kvitka (Ukrainian Institute of history of fashion) and Antonina Belinskaya – collected clothing and jewelry in museums and private collections, to exactly repeat the image of the bride on one of the old photos.
“This is a festive dress the bride Ivano-Frankivsk region and, more specifically, of the bride from the village of Great Klyuchiv. This wreath goose feather was only doing there: it was decorated by sequins and candy wrappers”, says Marichka Kvitka.
“The peculiarity of this image is a spare. In many villages of Ivano-Frankivsk was paired chute: one at the rear, another front is on the outfit front don’t have a spare, instead of the handkerchief, continues Antonina Belinskaya. – Handkerchiefs at that time were quite expensive and were considered as dowry. We reenacted specific photo, but in reality, it was tradition to wear a lot of scarves, one on top of another. The more, the more wealthy the bride is. This tradition goes for the jewelry. Necklace on Tina authentic: corals, pearls, beaded silence – all the originals of the XIX century”.
“It seems to me that the suit weighed 25 pounds! I got his fingerprints from the beads, says Karol. – But to remove them is not wanted. For this beauty I willing to endure. It’s all handmade! In each stitch on the embroidery, each bead is laid by our cultural heritage, our genetic code”.
Also, the project “Shchyri” was attended by the actress Ada Rogovtseva with her daughter and granddaughter, singer Anna Zavalska, designers Elena Reva and Natalia Kamenskaya, TV presenters Masha Yefrosinina, Solomiya Vitvitskaya, Regina Todorenko, Marichka Padalko and Olga Freimut, prize-winner of Olympic games-2016 in Rio de Janeiro gymnast Anna Rizatdinova, musician Dmitry Shurov with his family and wife Nata zhyzhchenko (ONUKA) and Evgeny Filatov (The Maneken).
