A recent study conducted in Iranian medical University Shahid Beheshti, showed that cumin, which has long been used as medicines and spices, is an excellent fighter against obesity.
The results of the study showed that eating just one teaspoon of cumin a day can help in weight loss. Moreover, it will help to reduce cholesterol.
The study involved 88 women who were divided into two groups. They all ate at least 500 calories a day for three months. However, one group of women was additionally used yoghurt mixed with a teaspoon of cumin. This group showed the best results in weight loss.
That’s why the women of this group significantly decreased the level of cholesterol in the blood.
Cumin is rich in phytosterols, a substance that reduces the absorption of cholesterol in the body. The study authors also believe that this spice can speed up the metabolism.
