Ukraine is preparing a third suit in the world trade organization (WTO) against Russia. This was announced by Deputy Minister of economic development and trade – trade representative of Ukraine Natalia Mykolska an interview with Zerkalo Nedeli.
“He (the third lawsuit – ed.) will affect bans that have been introduced with regard to our food and some industrial products. In fact, on their alleged failure to comply with technical standards and phytosanitary requirements of the Russian Federation,” said Gaina.
She noted that this dispute was delayed because of concerns of some Ukrainian companies to take such a step. According to him, these firms present on the Russian market other products and are afraid to lose the opportunity to sell it. And given the wide range of products and significant number of affected market participants, takes a lot of time forming a clear position of Ukraine on these prohibitions.
“The purpose of the new lawsuit is to demonstrate to all that the Ukrainian products are really high quality, safe and meet the requirements of technical regulations and they can buy,” said Gaina.
