The US President Donald trump will meet with the Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov on Wednesday.
As informs Bi-bi-si with reference to the press service of the White house, the meeting will be held in the oval office without journalists.
This is the first summit meeting between trump and the representative of the Russian leadership since the inauguration of the new US President on January 20.
Russian President Vladimir Putin met in the Kremlin with U.S. Secretary Rex Tillerson in April.
Last week between trump and Putin took place, as stated in the White house, “very nice” phone conversation. Then, among other things, the leaders agreed to intensify dialogue between the foreign Ministers – Sergey Lavrov and Rex Tillerson.
May 10, Lavrov is to hold talks in Washington with U.S. Secretary of state, to discuss the conflicts in Syria and Ukraine.
Relations between Washington and Moscow deteriorated sharply after trump’s decision to strike at the airfield used by aircraft by Syrian government forces. On 7 April the US released the 59 cruise missiles “Tomahawk” on the Syrian airbase “Sirat” in Idlib province.
Russia, which supports the Syrian government, called the missile strike by the US on the Syrian airfield violation of international law. Shortly afterwards, Putin said in an interview that the level of trust between Moscow and Washington when trump was even lower than during his predecessor Barack Obama.
