The virus Petya suffered one third of Ukrainian banks

NBU promises to build a new system of information security.

The National Bank of Ukraine on 5 July held a working meeting on analysis of events and measures to counter cyber attacks, which happened in Ukraine last week, the official website of the NBU.

“In General, from actions of malefactors has suffered a third of Ukrainian banks. Today, all these banks almost fully resumed its work”, – stated in the message.

Deputy Director of security Department of National Bank Anton Kudin said that all attempts of cyber attacks on the information system of the National Bank of Ukraine neytralizuya the teams respond to cyber incidents.

So, this time, the information resources of the National Bank were not injured. Last week the electronic infrastructure of the National Bank, including electronic payment system, which is used by banks, and the internal computer network of the Central Bank was functioning normally.

According to him, the national Bank undertook extensive analysis of the situation resulting from the latest cyber attacks, and found certain patterns.

In the banking system of Ukraine will build an innovative system of information security, the foundations of which are set out in the draft resolution of Board of National Bank of Ukraine “On approval of the Regulations on the organization of measures for ensuring information security in the banking system of Ukraine”.

“The latest attack demonstrated that the Ukrainian banking sector to check for the protection of its information resources and to strengthen the security of electronic networks”, – said the acting Chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine Yakov Smoliy.
