The US President Donald trump would approve the allocation of Ukraine of the defense budget, the US $ 350 million in defensive weapons, including 50 million dollars – lethal weapons, until the end of 2017. This was announced by the Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Valeriy Chaly.
“50 million dollars for lethal weapons in the law there are 350 million provided in the defense weapons and equipment, and the signature of the President trump, we expect – I think it will be this year”, – said Chaly.
However, he confirmed that Ukraine has already received the us lethal weapons for commercial contracts.
“I can only say that the contracts that exist, is not the only contract for the grenade launchers, they are all in the framework of international law. I can say that is not limited to so-called tactical weapons, lethal weapons including. America provides even lethal weapon, but a tactical weapon. We’re talking about tactical weapons, which is the next stage of deepening the cooperation and obviously a strong signal to Russia”, – said the Ambassador.
Chaly noted that the provision of more powerful lethal weapons depends on the decision of trump.
He expressed hope that the US will agree to Ukraine’s arguments that the provision of such weapons is very important right now, before the election of the President of Russia, scheduled for March 18, 2018, as further pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin.
